ASSISTANCE AND CONSULTATION ON EXAMINATION CONSTRUCTION, GRADING AND OTHER MEASUREMENT ISSUES

Kaaren I. Hoffman, Ph.D. is an ongoing consultant to the two major certification and educational organizations. Dr. Hoffman is actively involved in the development and validation of measuring instruments for these organizations including performance-based and written examinations of both a high-stake and low-stake nature. Her Work applies to examination and/or instrument construction, item writing, scoring and analysis, standard-setting and psychometric analysis. Dr. Hoffman regularly attends meetings of these outside organizations and conducts ongoing validation of the examination results, making recommendations as to changes in the examination or measurement process.

Dr. Hoffman has taught the Advanced Measurement and Research Design courses at the graduate level in the School of Education. She servers on several Doctoral Committees particularly when significant measurement issues are involved.

Within the School of Medicine, Dr. Hoffman consults with faculty on grading and evaluation as well as other pertinent psychometric issues. She is a member of the Educational Policy Committee (Grading and Evaluation).
